Cache

I discovered a whole cache of awesome pictures that Tommy has taken with his phone and I’ve never seen before – some are super good!  I’m going to have to raid his phone more often.

Malia Obama for President 2036

I’m calling it now!

PS – My new J Crew coat is the nicest piece of clothing I own.  I am very amused about all the discussion of clothing for today’s inauguration.  For instance, Michelle Obama is wearing a coat by someone-or-other-famous which the announcers refer to as her “high cost” piece.  This is paired with a J Crew belt, her “low cost” flair (flare? I’ll let Tommy edit this).  J Crew low cost?  Right.

Downward Dog

In the continuing quest for forward mobility, Kaya has taken up yoga to help build her core strength in case this helps her crawl.  Her newest pose is a beautifully executed downward dog.  Next up: warrior 2.

Wallowing

Kaya and Edward are wallowing in their sorrows that the Patriots lost yesterday.  I guess we’re Ravens fans now!  Kaya has decided that perhaps purple suits her better than that unbecoming navy blue anyway.  Someone better send her a new onesie fast.

Go Pats

Now that the Redskins are out, the Rose family has shifted their allegiance to the local team, Tom Brady the Patriots. Tommy is actually going to the game tonight (thank you Edward!). Kaya, who already bought her jersey before she realized she wasn’t invited, is super jealous. So Kaya and I are going to have a BradyPatriots-watching party right here at home instead. Go Pats!

It’s an epidemic

Boston declared a public health emergency this week due to influenza.  The hospital is packed – so packed that we opened an extra wing of the hospital and hired an additional hospitalist every day to deal with the increased volume.  Luckily everyone in the Rose household got their flu shot this year – with the exception of Kaya who had to get it indirectly through breastmilk as she’s not old enough to get the real thing.  I suspect that a low grade influenza went through our household last week, as Kaya survived her first fever (102.7!) and was obviously less happy than her usual self.  But, she’s back to all smiles now!

Progress

In the quest for mobility, Kaya has taken a giant leap…backwards.  She can now scoot backwards across the room, although she wants to go the opposite way.  As you can imagine, this can be quite frustrating and it is generally followed by screaming in frustration.Traveling
