Yoya took me to a pretty awesome show last night. It was essentially a recital where all the students (and some of the teachers) show off what they’ve learned or have been working on in a studio filled with hoops (Lyra? Lira? I dunno what it’s called), silks, and trapezes. It was pretty amazing – this picture does not do it justice. Next year I’m excited to watch Yoya perform.

Me: Put on your sweater
Kaya: Okay
M: Whoah! You buttoned the buttons all by yourself. You are growing up so fast. Stop growing so fast. Stay little.
K: I will stop growing so fast, mommy.
M: What? But you can’t.
K: Yes, I can. I’ll just eat slower.

Laney has been spending the last 2 weeks reading all the books she got for her birthday, or at least the ones she can manage to pry out of Kaya’s hands. Kaya’s new favorite hobby is organizing the “baby books.”

A few more pictures with the girls all dolled up on Thanksgiving.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving with both Gramma Baba and the Rose/Kircher grandparents joining us. And we didn’t even have to cook! Dylan made a stellar turkey, it was 70 degrees and sunny, and there was homemade apple pie – what more could you ask for?

We celebrated Laney’s first birthday last weekend with all the grandparents and some chocolate cake. I think she likes chocolate! Happy birthday baby girl.

I can’t believe my little bitty is already one! During our typical Monday morning rush to get to work on time, this is the only picture I could grab of Laney in her birthday shirt. So far, one year old Laney still doesn’t sleep, likes to cruise around the living room, and has a mission to destroy all completed puzzles. Happy birthday Laney!
(Aside: We did take an 11 month picture over the weekend – but it’s sitting on the camera SD card so I’ll have to post it later. Thank god we have a year to take the 12 month photo!)
