I somehow came away from July 4th weekend with very few pictures. But Summer Gangstead visited Kaya from Texas (as well as the rest of the family and the Griffith/Mangan duo from beantown). Highlight of the weekend for me was a trip to the pool to actually see the sun (they don’t let me out of the hospital much anymore). This is the best pic I got of the two babies (at the Bulls game).
We spent a day on the North Carolina coast last weekend – in Surf City, NC. It was actually a bit chilly so we didn’t actually go swimming, but Kaya LOVED playing in the sand. She was fearless when facing the ocean and would have just walked right in if we hadn’t stopped her. 
A week late, but happy 11 months to Kaya! It’s a good thing we only have one more picture to take in the series, as these pictures are getting harder.
Check out Kaya’s awesome new ride and early birthday present. Big thanks to Margie. Mommy and gammy even put it together without daddy -and it hasn’t fallen apart yet. Now she just needs to grow a little more to reach the pedals.
I’ve been using moving boxes to help quarantine Kaya in certain rooms while I unpack so I can keep an eye on her. They work quite well to keep her contained. Until they don’t.
Our new storage bins come with a warning label on the inside that says “Warning: Suffocation Risk.” Kaya was not interested in warnings. Or maybe she just can’t read yet.
We’re new members of the NC Museum of Life and Science. Tommy especially loved the block exhibit. Kaya played Jenga with his meticulously constructed bridge – you don’t need this piece, do you Daddy?
Kaya’s a biped! She now uses walking as her primary mode of transportation and only resorts to crawling for distances greater than one room away. The best part about it is the HUGE smile on her face every time she walks.
The Rose Family (and all our stuff) has officially arrived in Durham. The move was seamless. A huge shootout to Pony Express moving on the Boston side and Trosa on the Durham side for taking such good care of our stuff. Thanks to everyone who helped us pack, ate dinner with us along the way, and brought us champagne when we arrived. Nothing like the fine dining experience of champagne and mac n cheese after a long day of unpacking.
