Thank you Boston Logan for a fun place to crawl while waiting to board. Unfortunately it did not prevent a 2 hr screaming fest while on board. As far as I can tell, flying with a baby gets exponentially harder as they age.

We took a last minute trip up to Montreal for Memorial Day weekend.  It takes about 5 hours to get there and we faced snow squalls and fatigue on the way, but it was well worth it.  “Free museum day” sounded like a lucky break when we arrived, but it turns out it meant >3 hour waits at any museum in town.  So, instead we explored the city and stayed in a luxury hotel downtown.  The city is quite nice – there is a huge cemetery in the northern part (like, bigger than Central Park).  Max went to French Canadian doggie daycare.  Kaya ate her first croissant.  We explored the “underground city” – a series of tunnels and walkways between buildings that every northern city should have.  We saw McGill graduation day.  We got pulled over by a cop who very nicely gave us directions.  The Canadian border guard gave us a pretty hard time about Max (and his lack of rabies certificate…which we have, just not in paper form).  We saw cobblestone streets.  And ate crepes.  And chocolate.  Any many people tried to speak to us in French.  Here’s Kaya saying “Bon Appetite!”:

Our new favorite family activity is swimming – Kaya loves it although doesn’t exactly know how to stay afloat.  I’m still not 100% sure about the etiquette rules of diapers and pools – as of now we put Kaya in a normal diaper with a swim diaper on top and then a bathing suit on top of that.  By the end of a swim session her regular diaper is saturated though, which makes me think if water can get in, urine can get out.  But she loves it too much to wait until she’s out of diapers to take her swimming.

All tuckered out and catching some zzz’s on a Saturday afternoon at Fenway.  She had a pretty good nap before the 8th inning rally woke her up.  The weather was perfect with light drizzle at times, which meant the ballpark was quiet and we could get covered seats behind home plate.  Plus the sky was the perfect shade of baseball grey so the Indians couldn’t find fly balls in the air.  Go sox!

Maybe next year Kaya won’t try to eat my flowers.

Kaya had her 9 month check up today – she weighed in at 19 lbs 11 oz which is exactly triple her birth weight.  Dr. Kerbel told her that she could eat/drink anything now, except peanuts and honey.  I’m not sure this is what he meant.

Lynn and Edward came to visit and brought Chinese food last night. And they offered to babysit next week! They good people.
