Now that we’re starting to get the swing of things at the Rose household, our visitors have started to see rougher days.

Laura, for example, spent a week slaving away in our kitchen.  And as a thank you, we put a bench in the hallway for her to bang her foot into.  Broken? We think so.

And Laura’s newest family addition, Piolin, took a trip to the vet to prevent any Piolinitas in the future (ie, she got spayed).  She’s a bit sad tonight.

Kaya has daddy wrapped around her little finger when she wears her strawberry sleeper.  It’s the first outfit that he actually exclaimed, “Look how cute she is!”  Now, every time he chooses her outfit, he chooses strawberries!

We are proud to announce that Kaya has officially graduated from poop school.  The hospital gave us a diagram of how her poop is supposed to change in the first week of her life.  Well, she flew through her first assignment – we are very proud.  Here’s a nice graphic  description of “Diapers of the Breastfed Baby.” Am I allowed to put this on the internet?

James and Niall visited last night and brought us enchiladas for dinner.  Thanks guys!

During our first week, we’ve learned that the absolute worst (well, maybe not the worst) thing that can happen is someone knocks on the door.  Inevitably Kaya is nursing at the time.  First, the dog goes nuts.  Second, I attempt to get up to get the door, which makes the baby scream and the dog go more nuts.  To solve this problem, Tommy created the following sign for our door.

As a thank you to Tommy posting pictures of the labor process and delivery room, I’ve decided to post a picture of Kaya and daddy sharing skin to skin time.  I can see her right brain developing already.  This picture of Kaya and me is the closest the internet is going to get of mommy-baby skin to skin time, but I like this picture.

The whole family took our first outing (other than the pediaatrician’s office) yesterday.  We took a walk to Amory Dog Park so Max and Piolina could run off some energy.  Kaya did great and slept the whole time wrapped Moby-style and carried by daddy.  I made it about halfway before I wished daddy would carry me too.

We’ve had lots of visitors in the last few days (including the whole Testive team) and would like to thank everyone for their support (especially the food and presents they’ve brought!).  Kaya is so lucky to be born into such a great family and friend network.  And special thanks to my sister Laura for being such a great servant house guest.

Although everyone is adjusting quite well, we haven’t had any time to take or post pictures.  However, here are a couple to get everyone started.  I give her a Mallampati class 2 (I’ll let you non-medical folks google that one).
