Defy Gravity

There’s a local trampoline park which has little kid hours from 9-10am on weekdays – not exactly the most convenient time for two working parents.  I’ve been wanting to take Kaya there ever since we moved here – and today was my chance.  Her school is closed today for some reason, which means I snuck away from work for a few hours.  And boy was it worth it!  Unfortunately, heavy trampolining and 36 weeks of gestation do not go together very well so Kaya had to do much of the jumping, but she didn’t seem to mind.

Pumpkins

I am becoming very fond of fall in Durham – there’s so much to do and the weather has been fabulous. Last weekend we had tickets on the Pumpkin Patch Express train at the Museum of Science and had a great opportunity for a nice family picture.DSC_9109

D-U-K-E

I’ve been back on a first-year schedule the last couple of weeks at work, so excuse the scarcity of posts.  We should be back on track now though.  Yesterday we got to see Duke beat UVA at the homecoming game. That brings them to 6-1 overall (or something like that) and in the midst of a pretty good season. Go Duke!

Wayne Drop

We met Wayne Drop at Centerfest in Durham a few weeks ago – Kaya’s new favorite friend. He gave us a toy version which Kaya now asks for constantly, even though she wouldn’t go close to the real version of Wayne Drop. DSC_8876

Proud

This weekend was pride weekend in Durham. A nice lunch on Ninth St was followed by a fun parade. Kaya got some bead, a lollipop and a rainbow flag to fly on our porch.  Proud to live in Durham.

Happy Birthday Yoya!

After a whirlwind weekend, we had a nice birthday celebration for Aunt Laura (pronounced Yoya, by some). I also learned that you can’t flip a cake upside down to get it out of the pan, or it’ll fall apart.  Still delicious though! Happy Birthday Aunt Yoya! So glad you’re here to celebrate with us.
